Information for authors

For deadlines see the important dates page.

The full paper should describe original scientific work. Although the full paper is expected to be an extension of the abstract, it can also contain new research and results not presented in the abstract. The maximum length is 8 pages for contributed papers and 12 pages for invited papers. The page limit includes everything (also references). Full papers exceeding the maximum length will not be accepted.

All full papers, whether being presented as an invited talk, oral talk, or poster, will be treated equally in the review process.

Typesetting the Abstract

The Abstract must be typset with LaTeX using the conference class file scee.cls. Do not use Microsoft Word or any other word processor to typeset your Abstract, as it will not be accepted.

You may use any program to draw figures, but save your figures as Encapsulated Postscript (EPS) files. Then, include these EPS figures into your Abstract. To generate your bibliography, you may either use LaTeX directly or use BibTeX.

Template

You can download an archive abstract-template-scee.zip with an example template and other necessary files required to generate an example Abstract. Details on the content follow:

  • scee.cls the conference LaTeX class file
  • author.tex the text body template
  • authorfig_1.eps a figure (EPS file)
  • authorref.tex a bibliography template for direct use in LaTeX
or authorref.bib a bibliography database for BibTeX users
  • author.pdf a ready, printable Abstract (which is not required to generate the Abstract)

File-naming convention

Your Abstract pdf file should be named so that they begin with your last name followed by the .pdf extension.

Typesetting the Conference Proceedings Full Paper

The full paper must be typeset with LaTeX using the class file svmult.cls by Springer provided below (one-column style).

You may use any program to draw figures, but save your figures as Encapsulated Postscript (EPS) files. If you include colour pictures, please make sure that a black and white version is available as well, since the book may be published in black and white only. Then, include these EPS figures into your full paper. To generate your bibliography, you may either use LaTeX directly or use BibTeX.

Template

You will find below an example template and other necessary files required to generate an example full paper. You may download the required files individually by clicking each file name below:

Alternatively, you can download here a zip archive scee-proc_template-and-instructions.zip containing all above files.

Please pay attention to this important note from the editor Important note (pdf file) containing.

File-naming convention

Your full paper source and pdf files should be named such that they begin with last name followed by corresponding extension. If your last name is a common one, use your first name as well in naming your files.

Please send your pdf-file (using our style file) along with all files you need to create the pdf-file to info@scee-conferences.org.

Further instructions for submissions of SCEE extended paper to the ’’Journal of Mathematics in Industry’’ (SPRINGER)

Authors that have been invited to submit an extended version of the paper in the SCEE Proceedings to the Journal of Mathematics for Industry, should be aware that the submission procedure requires some additional tasks/efforts.

First and foremost, Springer requires an additional section at the end of your paper:

In case you were not aware of this when writing the paper, and are only just satisfying the constraint of precisely 12 pages, we grant you permission to extend to page 13 in order to accommodate the required declaration.

Once you have finished the paper, including the declarations, and you start the submission process, you will encounter the following message: "You, the corresponding author, are required to arrange payment of a processing charge of £990/US$1,390/€1,190* if your article is accepted for publication. Since you are based in Germany, you will be charged the EUR price of €1,190. This fee helps to cover the cost of managing peer-review, data conversion, and permanent online hosting (see more information about SpringerOpen’s processing charges)."

We have all told you that this will be covered by vouchers we have available for the SCEE contributions to JMI. You should select the „waive“ option, and Springer will ask for a reason. You can write ‘’SCEE 2022 invited extended paper’’. After submitting, Springer will send an email with the following content: ‘’This is confirmation that we have received your request for a waiver of the article-processing charge on the above article. Your submission may be paused whilst your request is processed but we will be in contact shortly with a decision.’’

NOTE: Some, especially German, universities have a contract with Springer. For example, TU Darmstadt has such contract, hence authors from such universities can use the waiver for their own university; this will put less pressure on the ECMI vouchers. Please check this!
